Day 1 Sandakan – Selingan Turtle Island (L, D)

Pick up airport/ hotel and transfer to the jetty for an hour’s trip by speedboat to Selingan Turtle Island. Check in at one of the chalets on the island and have lunch at the restaurant. The afternoon is free for relaxing, bird watching or for snorkeling. In the evening, a park ranger will escort you to watch one of the green turtles that have come ashore to lay their eggs. Stay overnight at the Park Chalets.

Day 2 Selingan – Sepilok – Kinabatangan River – Sukau (B, L, D)

Depart Selingan for Sandakan by boat. Arrive Sandakan jetty and transfer to the Sepilok Orang Utan Sanctuary where captive orang utans are reintroduced into the wild. You will be able to observe them at their feeding stations in the rainforest and see a video presentation on the orang utan rehabilitation programme.  Then transfer to the jetty in Sandakan for a boat excursion that brings you to the pristine mangrove forests along the Kinabatangan River delta in search of proboscis monkeys, birds and reptiles. Lunch is provided at the Abai Jungle Restaurant. Continue by boat to Sukau and after check-in go on a river cruise up the Kinabatangan River to Menanggul River in search of more wildlife. Overnight stay at the Kinabatangan Riverside Lodge.

Day 3 Ox Bow Lake – Kinabatangan River – Sukau (B, L, D)

Early morning, take a boat trip for bird watching and wildlife viewing at the nearby Ox Bow Lake. Trek the lush riverine forest along the lake and then return to the lodge for breakfast. In the afternoon, venture on another river cruise down the Menanggul River and along the Kinabatangan River. Return to the lodge at dusk. Evening at leisure. Overnight at the Kinabatangan Riverside lodge.

Day 4 Sukau – Kinabatangan River – Sandakan (B, L)

After breakfast, return to Sandakan by boat (2-3 hours). Arrive at Sandakan jetty and visit the busy central market. Proceed to Sandakan airport for flight out. Check-in, then have lunch at airport.
