Day 1 Sepilok – Kinabatangan River – Sukau (L, D)

Pick up from Sandakan airport or hotel and depart to the Sepilok Orangutan Sanctuary where captive orangutans are reintroduced into the wild. You will be able to observe them at their feeding stations in the rainforest and see a video presentation on the Orangutan’s rehabilitation program. Then transfer to the jetty in Sandakan for a boat excursion that brings you to the pristine mangrove forests along the Kinabatangan River delta in search of proboscis monkeys, birds and reptiles. Lunch is provided at the Abai Jungle Restaurant. Continue by boat to Sukau and after check-in go on a river cruise up the Kinabatangan River to Menanggul River in search of more wildlife. Overnight stay at the Kinabatangan Riverside Lodge.

Day 2 Ox Bow Lake – River Cruise – Sukau (B, L, D)

Early morning, take a boat trip for bird watching and wildlife viewing at the nearby Ox Bow Lake. Trek the lush riverine forest along the lake and then return to the lodge for breakfast. In the afternoon, venture on another river cruise down the Menanggul River and along the Kinabatangan River. Return to the lodge at dusk. Evening at leisure. Overnight at the Kinabatangan Riverside lodge.

Day 3 Boat Cruise – Brief City Orientation (B, L)

After breakfast, return to Sandakan by boat (2-3hrs). Arrive at Sandakan jetty and visit the busy central market. Proceed to Sandakan airport for flight out. Check-in, then have lunch at airport.
