Itinerary
0745-0800 hours pick up from hotel. Located 24 kilometres from the centre of Kuching, the Semenggoh Wildlife Centre provides an excellent opportunity to view semi-wild orangutans in a natural setting. This orangutan rehabilitation centre receives orphaned or rescued orangutans and trains them to survive in the wild. Over 20 orangutans live in forest within the Semenggoh nature reserve and they often return to the centre to receive supplemental feeding. The feeding area is set in a natural amphitheatre where it is possible to observe the orangutans coming down from the surrounding forest for the food provided. The rangers provide a briefing on the purpose of the centre and the conservation objectives. Upon arrival your guide will point out any orangutan nests that can be seen from the path. After the briefing by the rangers you will walk along a short trail through the forest to the feeding platform. Sometimes the orangutan are already at the platform. On other days the rangers call out their names and the orangutan descend through the trees to grab a free meal.

We operate daily fixed departure, small group tours to Semenggoh. We can arrange private tours to Semenggoh on any day. Please email us on info@borneoadventure.com to arrange a tour on dates not shown in the booking engine.
Note that during the fruiting season the orangutans at Semenggoh often have sufficient food and therefore do not come down to the feeding area. As such, in December and January there are days when no orangutans come to the feeding areas.
These tours operate on the principle that you may be in a small group of other people.
