Testimonials

Over the years Borneo Adventure has received positive feedback and reviews from past visitors about our tours and excursions. Below is a snapshot of what others have to say about Borneo Adventure.

General

“We have had nothing but very good experiences with all guides, and some were indeed much better than could expected. Keep up the good work, and you’ll have many more satisfied customers.”

V. Schjøtt, Denmark

“At Bako we were guided by Rivas, at Batang Ai by Paul. These guys were not just ‘the guide’, but were like friends to us. Their knowledge of plants, animals, the people, the habits, history is enormous. And we had a lot of fun with them as well. For sure I will return to Borneo with my son, and hope to see these two guys again.”

M. Lanser, Netherlands

“Visiting the Iban longhouse and having dinner with the chief and family – this was a fantastic experience. Semenggoh rehabilition centre was another highlight for us – it was an amazing afternoon. Our guide Hussein was fantastic. He educated us so much on local culture and history and always had the answers to any questions we put to him. We spent our first week in Borneo with Hussein and had a week full of adventures. What a great guide – thanks so much.”

R. Hallsworth

“We have just returned from our Borneo Adventure. We were extremely impressed with Borneo Adventure’s organization. Everything went better than we expected and we would certainly recommend your company to anyone interested in travelling to your country. The guides were excellent. Thank you for arranging such a good tour for us.”

Ken & Geraldine Riding, Australia

The organization of this complicated trip was outstanding. There was a perfect amount of information given at all the right times so we had no moments of feeling lost or wondering if the next connection would work. Also we packed so much in to every day and found ourselves arriving at each venue at the optimum time and for the right amount of time – never rushed, never bored. It has been a fantastic adventure for all the family. Thank you.

Judy Lucas, United Kingdom

The whole trip was fantastic – from the moment we arrived at Kuching airport until we left for home from Kota Kinabalu. Both ours guides were absolutely great and if we return to Borneo we would have no hesitation in using Borneo Adventure.

Nanga Sumpa & the Ulu Ai Experience

Nanga Sumpa. We stayed in the new rooms. Weaved with the women, and trekked in the rainforest. Fantastic?

E. Andersen, Denmark

Nanga Sumpa was magical and way beyond my expectations (clean, beautiful). We will go back one day to Nanga Sumpa, would love to spend longer just relaxing in such a beautiful place with such beautiful people.

Deborah Kohn, Australia

Our visit to Nanga Sumpa was such a wonderful experience, thanks to the Iban people and your guide.

Marianne & Poul-Erik Wurtz, Denmark

Everything has been excellent but the highlights were the local market, the longhouse visit and of course the fantastic river journey up the Batang Ai River. The guides and local helpers were extremely friendly and very knowledgeable. An unforgettable experience and one we will recommend to friends.

Paul Bates, United Kingdom

Our visit to the longhouse was a memorable experience, a real taste of another culture. Our hosts warm and generous people, our guide faultless. So nice to be away from all the tourists and enjoy a real cultural experience.

John Ball, United Kingdom

Michael Palin

Writer, broadcaster, actor, comedian and keen observer of humanity, Michael Palin visited Sabah and Sarawak in 1996 as part of his epic circumnavigation of the Pacific.  His journey was recorded by the BBC for a ten part television series, Full Circle. Michael Palin and his team travelled with Borneo Adventure throughout their stay in Sabah and Sarawak. Pages 148 to 163 of the book which accompanies the series describe Michael Palin’s Borneo Adventure. The Full Circle production team spent 3 days at Borneo Adventure’s lodge at Nanga Sumpa longhouse. You’ll find Nanga Sumpa featured on pages 153 to 162 of the book. Basil Pao’s superb photographs, which accompany the text, offer the reader a colourful glimpse of the Nanga Sumpa travel experience.

Michael Palin, like most of our travellers, signed the Visitors’ Book at Nanga Sumpa. Here’s what he had to say.

“A journey into the unknown and a voyage of discovery at the same time! I’ve seen many places but nowhere quite like this. To stay in the rainforest is a magical experience in itself – to be looked after an extra bonus. Enormous thanks to all the people here for a quite unforgettable time.”

Award-winning operation running excellent trips throughout Sarawak and Sabah. Its jungle lodge, beside the Nanga Sumpa longhouse, along the Ulu Ai, is a fine example of best practice and a beacon for ecotourism in Malaysia.
