Itinerary

Day 1 Kuching – Nanga Sumpa  (L/D)

0800 hours pick up from hotel in Kuching and drive to Batang Ai reservoir. Along the way stop at Lachau Bazaar. Stroll around the shops and the small native market and have an early lunch in a local coffee shop. Then continue your journey, arriving at Batang Ai Lake around 1330-1400 hours.  Board a longboat and travel upriver to Nanga Sumpa, arriving at approx. 1530 hours, although the exact time will depend on river conditions. Settle in at Borneo Adventure’s lodge and have dinner. Evening free at leisure. Overnight at Nanga Sumpa lodge.

Day 2 Enseluai Waterfall – Nanga Sumpa (B/L/D)

Following breakfast hike the jungle trails along the river. Then continue upriver by longboat. Our destination is the scenic Enseluai waterfall.  Arrive at the waterfall and have time to relax, swim and enjoy the rainforest surroundings. Enjoy a riverside BBQ lunch prepared by your Iban hosts. Return to the lodge. After dinner visit Nanga Sumpa longhouse. Relax on the ruai (common verandah), spend time with the Iban people and enjoy some local rice wine. Overnight at Nanga Sumpa lodge.

Day 3 Lubok Kasai Day Trip & Orangutan Treks (B/L/D)

0730 hours have breakfast at Nanga Sumpa Lodge. 0830 hours depart by longboat and travel upriver (approx. 45 mins) to Nanga Lalang pebble beach. Then start trekking along the banks of the Lalang River to Lubok Kasai Jungle Camp. This area is prime orangutan habitat. Arrive at Lubok Kasai and have some tea or coffee. Time to relax and have a swim in the river whilst you guide prepares lunch. After lunch proceed downriver and be dropped off along the banks of the Delok River (Beluju or Mawang area). Then trek back to Nanga Sumpa, again looking out for orangutans along the way. Dinner and overnight at Nanga Sumpa Lodge.

Day 4 Nanga Sumpa – Kuching (B/L)

Breakfast in the lodge. 0830 hours travel downriver to the Batang Ai Lake jetty, arriving around 1030-1100 hours. Then travel overland back to Kuching with lunch enroute. Arrive in Kuching approx. 1630 hours and be dropped off at your hotel.

We recommend you leave your main luggage in Kuching and take a smaller bag on the tour to Batang Ai. There is limited luggage space in the boats to take large suitcases or bags, so only take what you need for the 4 day tour. Most hotels and guesthouses in Kuching will store your luggage when you go on overnight trips.

Borneo Adventure offers a pick-up service from selected pick-up points in the centre of Kuching. Unfortunately, we do not offer a pick-up service from Airbnbs, private apartments, Damai Beach or the Kuching International Airport for our small group, ‘join-in’ tours.
